Year 5 Visit to Museum Bank Indonesia

On Wednesday 19 September, the Year 5 students travelled to the Museum Bank Indonesia in the Kota Tua area of Jakarta as a kick start to their ‘How We Organise Ourselves’ unit of inquiry. In their unit, the students have been inquiring into various human-made systems, and their excursion was a provocation for learning about the systems of currency and money distribution in Indonesia. At the museum, students were treated to a guided tour of the museum including many interactive elements, a visit to the original bank tellers, an informative movie about the creation of bank notes, and a historical tour through the different eras of Indonesia, with money and currency as a unifying theme.

The Year 5 students were happy to explore and learn more about currency and the history of Indonesia. For some of them, this was the first time they had visited a museum in Jakarta.
