Mural Art with UNHCR Indonesia

For the past five weeks, some of our Secondary students have accompanied Ms Anne and Ms Zans on Saturdays to participate in a voluntary project at a local refugee shelter in Jakarta. Together, with residents and other helpers, they have painted a mural to brighten up the environment at the shelter. All those involved generously gave their time, and we even had a parent volunteer to work with the boys from Afghanistan several days a week. To show their gratitude, the boys made us a feast of traditional dishes from Afghanistan and several parents contributed dishes from a variety of countries. A caring community has been key to this experience. It has been about more than just art.
