A school with a strong sense of community was top of the wish list for mum Kadek Thornley. Not only that, but she was also looking for a first-rate curriculum, outstanding teachers, a diverse student body – and plenty of sporting opportunities for sons Ryan (12) and Oliver (10).
Luckily Kadek found just what she was looking for at ACG School Jakarta, and since starting there in 2013, her boys have flourished.
“ACG addressed all of our key criteria. There are other good schools in Jakarta but what we value at ACG is the sense of community on campus,” she says.
“The school is serious about promoting its core values. Older students mix easily with younger students, and both parents and teachers actively support and participate in a range of activities. Plus, school administration has always been responsive to our questions.”
Kadek has been impressed with the way students are empowered to explore their strengths and pursue their interests.
“Both Ryan and Oliver have developed as we had hoped: they enjoy learning, are creative, confident and curious. We are also happy that they have both forged a strong interest in STEM [Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics] subjects while at ACG.”
Keen sportsmen, the boys have taken full advantage of the school’s football, swimming and athletics opportunities, and have built up a fantastic network of good friends and supportive teachers during their time at the school.
“What Ryan and Oliver enjoy most is that they feel comfortable and happy learning at ACG School Jakarta.”
And for the Thornley family, that’s worth its weight in gold.
